Jenna first called me at the beginning of 2018 to inquire about our Day Of Coordination service. She said that she pretty much had a handle on the planning, but that she was worried about setting up the venue and finalizing all the details and logistics that were involved. I told her this was our specialty and that I’d love to help with her big day!
A few months later, Jenna and I met in person in my office. She showed me photos and went over her wedding vision with me. I gave her my input and advice when she asked, and also offered ideas and suggestions. She told me the story of how she met Fabián and that he was from Costa Rica, so many of his guests were Costa Rican. She was planning to incorporate certain details to show this part of his heritage.
A few months before the wedding, I went on a walkthrough at her venue along with the caterer. We discussed where the buffet, bar, cake, dance floor and other things would be set up at the wedding. I had worked at her venue before, but I still always like to go on a walkthrough with each client. About a month before the wedding, we had a detail phone call where we went over the remaining details of the wedding.
As the wedding day approached, we were told that we could not set up our own s’mores bar on the porch due to having an unattended open flame, so I was able to find a company who specialized in custom s’mores bars, and because they come with an attendant, they were able to set up on the porch. In addition, Jenna was having a hard time securing the authentic Costa Rican dancers that she wanted for a short performance at the reception. TWO DAYS before the wedding, I was able to surprise her with not one, not two, but SIX authentic Costa Rican performers for her reception. The smile on Jenna and Fabián’s faces were priceless!
The wedding party was a joy to work with during the rehearsal. Everyone was attentive and excited for the unity of Jenna and Fabián. After setting up decorations, we completed a seamless walk through of the processional and ceremony that would occur the next day.
On the day of the wedding, my assistant and I arrived at the church first to address finishing touches and to greet the videographer, musicians, pastor, and wedding party. The ceremony was a beautiful display of the love shared between Jenna, Fabián, and their families. Once Jenna and Fabián were officially declared husband and wife, the congregation was dismissed and it was time to head to the Lounsbury House for the reception!
While the wedding party stayed back at the church to take pictures, we headed over to the reception venue to finish setting up the decorations supplied by Jenna. I had a second assistant on site earlier to begin the setup. The mantels were adorned with candles, garland, and framed pictures depicting the couple’s love story.
Before we knew it, cocktail hour was over and it was time for wedding party entrances and the first dance!
Once guests were seated in the dining room, and after a few heartfelt toasts, the dinner stations opened up.
Everything looked and tasted amazing!!
The night concluded with a sparkler send-off.
The reception was a celebration filled with joy, laughter, fun music, and great food. We wish Jenna and Fabián a happy and healthy unity!
