I have a lot to say on this topic, and I’m going to try to keep it as professional as possible. But we all know the wedding forums on Facebook filled with brides (and grooms) to-be looking for that perfect venue/makeup artist/florist/photographer/videographer/day-of coordinator that’s not gong to “break the bank”. You may throw out the occasional referral here and there, or you may be glued to these forums every day scoping out all the info. Regardless of which category you may fall into, and if you’re a bride or a vendor who often hops on to throw your hat in the ring (guilty!), here are 5 reasons why these forums are NOT ideal for finding your wedding vendors:

1. Sorting.

Have you seen the amount of comments that come from these recommendation requests?? It’s absurd. You now need to take the time to sort through them all AND look up each vendor in which you might potentially be interested. That’s exhausting in and of itself.

2. Budget.

Every wedding is different and every couple has a different budget and amount of money they’d like to allocate for certain services. Just because one bride is recommending XZY Photography doesn’t mean that they are in every couple’s budget.

3. Style.

The same theory as above goes for style. Just because XYZ Photography’s dark and moody style was PERFECT for one bride’s Halloween wedding doesn’t mean that the bride having an outdoor reception looking for a light and airy style will like them too.

4. Availability.

The person doing the commenting and recommending of those vendors has no idea if the company is even available on the poster’s wedding date! This can be a big waste of time for everyone involved.

5. Location.

Many vendors charge a travel fee outside a certain area, so if you are taking recommendations from random people on Facebook who are located all of the state and beyond, you may start incurring various travel charges from vendors, which will add up quickly!

Our job is literally to refer you to vendors who fit each individual couples’ budget, style, availability and personality. We take the time to get to know our couples and what is important to them. If we know that your photography budget is $3,000, we won’t refer you to the $10,000 photographer. If you tell us your priority is not flowers, then we won’t put so much emphasis on florals as your main part of design and will help you to figure out ways to be the most cost-effective in this area.

Our job at the end of the process is to know your wedding inside and out, whether we are working with you for full planning or day-of coordination! We’ve built up quite a network in our almost 14 years as wedding planners that we know who’s the best of the best in the industry and who will best fit your wedding. Trust the experts.

On a final note, I'd like to thank every single person who recommends us on these forums. We love the referrals!
