This summer, I had the honor of coordinating Zach & Taylor’s wedding at The Hops Company (THC). I met them through their caterer, Spice Catering Group. After a few phone calls with them, they decided to hire me for Day Of Coordination.

Friday evening friends and family came together for the rehearsal. Not only were Taylor and Zach calm and ready to get married already, but the bridal party were just as easy-going and full of hope for the big day. We easily walked through the process of how everyone would walk down the aisle and line up all while being optimistic that the ceremony was going to take place outside. The forecast called for thunderstorms during the ceremony so we brainstormed and figured out a last minute rain plan.

Saturday morning came with sun and warm weather as we arrived at THC a little after noon to start set up. The staff along, with the Event Director of THC, Anna, was a big help bringing tables and supplies up. We rearranged some seating such as the head farm table to have the beautiful backdrop of the flowers and rock waterfall in the back of the venue. At that time we were confident that the weather couldn’t be more perfect as we were hesitant about the forecasted thunderstorms.

We started to set up the linens and accented the sunflower centerpieces in the middle of vine wreaths with yellow napkins. After a couple hours, the wedding party was on their way up and ready to go. They came in with their bright yellow Converse sneakers and huddled into the newly renovated bar garage to grab some water and meet up with family as Taylor & Zach were getting ready for their first look. As we gathered other vendors who were arriving and directed them where to set everything up, we just had to stop and watch Taylor & Zach see each other for the first time. It was the sweetest sight as everyone was grabbing for tissues while sharing the moment with them from afar. After some photos were taken, we to put the wedding party in the bar area with the garage door closed to hide Taylor from the guests that were slowly arriving.

The ceremony started right at 5:00, as Zach waited under the Chuppah for his bride. This venue took careful planning and clear communication between us, the DJ, and the officiant, friend of the couple, Pete, as the wedding party processioned from where they hid out in the bar to where everyone was waiting across the lawn. The ceremony went smoothly as they exchanged personal vows filled with inside jokes, love, and tears while guest stood and watched. When the ceremony ended guests gathered to their seats and played some cornhole during cocktail hour as more pictures were taken with family and friends.

The reception was fun, as the DJ played music all night long as guests danced with each other. A short shower lead us to gathering some decorations under the tent and rolling down the sides of the tent to keep out the rain, but it didn’t stop anyone from having a good time all night long. And it made for some awesome rainbow and crazy sky shots!
