You may have heard the term “Day of Coordinator” thrown around in wedding planning, but here’s why it’s not accurate—and why I no longer use it.
There’s No Such Thing as “Just the Day Of”
The truth is, even if you’re hiring a planner for support on your wedding day, the work starts well before that. Coordinating a wedding requires planning meetings, timeline building, vendor communication, and rehearsals—all of which take place weeks in advance. A smooth wedding day doesn’t happen without detailed preparation, and that’s why the idea of showing up “just for the day” doesn’t work.
It’s More Like “Month-of Coordination”
Most of what couples think of as “day of” services are actually spread out over several weeks. I’ll step in about 4-6 weeks before your wedding to gather details, check in with vendors, and finalize logistics. By the time your big day arrives, I’m already deeply familiar with your plans to ensure everything runs perfectly.
Peace of Mind, Before and During
By hiring a planner early enough, you’ll avoid last-minute stress and questions. I’ll make sure everything is in place well ahead of time, so you can enjoy the final days before your wedding knowing that all the details are being handled. It’s much more than just showing up the day of!
It Takes a Team
Coordinating your wedding day involves making sure vendors are on track, setting up the ceremony and reception spaces, and troubleshooting anything that comes up. This requires more than just one person showing up for a few hours—it’s a team effort to ensure every part of your day flows smoothly.
So, while the term “Day of Coordinator” may still be floating around, what you’re really getting is a planner who is dedicated to making your entire wedding experience stress-free, starting well before the big day arrives.
